For Thanksgiving dinner, I usually bring the centerpiece(s) and the bacon + Brussels sprouts dish. One year, I decided to combine my favorites to create Zombie Hot Dog Pilgrims. Because why not. And since my Thanksgiving dinnermates preferred Cher to Gaga, the Squash Mayflowers to sail to Cher Plymouth Rock. Chrysanthemum centerpieces are for your grandmothers.

The photos aren’t the best as I was rushing to get to dinner, but hopefully the tradition-shattering randomness of hot dog zombie pilgrims comes through.

Brussels Sprouts make delight boobs with a realistic, healthy buoyancy. Her hat is made out of hot dogs with a bacon headband and her mouth is a hot pepper slice. They don’t call her “Hot Lips” for nothing, you know.

The leader of our Pilgrims is a smartly dressed preacher made out of potatoes. His hot dog mustache is finely tapered and reflects a wholesome sensibility.

The much-loved son of our Pilgrim leader, the baby Pilgrim uses his beady red eyes to watch and learn from all that happens around him. (NOTE: Please try to ignore the sticks that make it look like the baby was held down atop an ant hill and covered with honey. The sticks are there to keep his Hello Kitty backpack from falling off.)

While a Pilgrim of no great social stature, Mr. Hot Dog Pilgrim is hardworking and dedicated.
